the menu links are on the left content page.

How can i get refresh effect on the right content page when i click on the links on the left page?

http://code.google.com/webtoolkit/documentation/examples/kitchensink/demo.htmlHi,

one approach is to use theUpdatePaneltogether with theMultiViewcontrol.
Thanks very much,i got it.
sorry, can i get that kind of effect just click a link on the page without MultView?

eg. i put a link on the left content page. the right content page will refresh when i click the link?

Hi Joytony,

When you click the link, do you want to display a totally new page?? could you post the code you use for the links?

Greetings,

Dennis

Hi JoyTony,

I don't think that its possible to open a new page in another frame without a full postback. (If this is want you want to achieve). I think that Atlas is useful when you want parts of a webpage to be updated not whole pages. I think that the suggestion above with the multiview is the only option. Is there a reason that you don't want to use multiview??

Greetings,

Dennis

Hi Again,

What is the reason that you put your buttons in the update panel? These controls shoudn't be updated right?

Regards

Hmm, it seems you're kinda misusing the concept., although I do see what you're trying to do i think. If I'm not mistaken you're trying to only get the non master portion to refresh, similar to what one would achieve using frames? If so, other than the fact that it's probably not going to work, your pages will not be picked up by search engines, which is really bad unless its an intranet site.

It would be real nice if ATLAS did solve the problem of same masterpage markup being sent back with every page though, but i guess with a well designed site that should be very minimal.

Nick

Thanks Dennis andnicksh.

The reason why i don't want to use multiple view is i've done many pages there.

I just leave it there at the moment untill we really want to change. Thanks.

Linked List of Hover Menus

Say I have a hover panel with a bunch of links. When the user hovers over a link, the same hover panel should appear with the same links, and again when the user hovers over a link, the panel appears for the 3rd time, and so on...

For example, say my Panel has Links A, B, C, D, and E. If the user hovers over link B, a panel should appear with the links A, B, C, D, and E. Again, say if the user clicks on link C, the panel appears again with the same links...this way the user can form a linked list of items that were hovered over. For example, B-->C-->A-->D. When the user final clicks on a link (instead of simply hovering), that would signal the end, and a reference to the linked list (B-->C-->A-->D) needs to be posted back to the server.

My questions are:

1. How do I achieve this dynamic hover menu effect?

2. How can I maintain the list of links that were hovered over each panel, so that I can finally postback the set of links hovered over to the server.

I'd appreciate if anyone could help me on this. I am creating a website that needs this functionality.

Thanks!

This sounds like it may get more complicated than you want. I'd look at maybe creating the hover behaviors on the client so that you can handle the arbitrary nesting that results after the user makes a few choices.

Links dont work properly in a working Modal Popup

Is it possible to have client side <a href links inside an extender?

I've got a Modal Popup working. A webservice is invoke via javascript on the client. The webservice queries a database and returns html to the javascript which inserts the markup into the Modal Popup panel. The popup works well, displaying a title, a description and an image. It also displays a <a href link, however this link doesn't work as intended. It displays as a link but when clicked goes nowhere. I've tried it with and without target="_blank". The only way make it function is by right clicking on it and Opening in a new tab or in a new window. Any advice would be very welcome as I'm stuck and it's far from user friendly in it's current state.

Hi oscar,

Do you got some code that replicates the error?

Kind regards,
Wim

Hello,

What is resulting output of the link?

Thanks,

Louis

Thanks both for taking the time to help out. I tried logging in to reply, entered my password incorrectly once and my user account has now been locked out, despite it letting me reset my password.

I've now got this working.

The web service returns a string containing all of the markup to be displayed in the panel:

strdetails += "<a href="http://links.10026.com/?link="""onClick=""javascript:popUp('"
strdetails += ds.Tables(0).Rows(0)("livemaplink").ToString()
strdetails += "')"">Live Map</a>"

then with the rest of the javascript functions in the aspx page is this:

function popUp(URL)

{window.open(URL);}

I'd tried adding the popup function to the panel in the strdetails string and it didn't work but this does.

Thanks again.

Hi oscar Version 2Stick out tongue

Glad you got it to work!

Euhm, Even if none of our answer are actually solutions, I think you can still mark the thread as solved, somewhere on top, or mark your reply as answer. Because this thread is resolved ;)

Kind regards,
Wim

Will do, when my original account is unlocked that is!Big Smile

Links on a SlideshowExtender Image

Good morning!

I have a SlideShowExtender control on my site and it's working great. However, I was wondering if anyone knows how I can make each image a link to a different page, just like MSN.com is able to do with its slideshow. I'm not sure if the SlideShowExtender extends ImageButton, but I'd like to keep the images and the target links out of the codebehind if I could.

Thanks for your help.

Erik

Hi,

You can do it like this:

<asp:Image ID="Image1" runat="server" onclick="javascript:window.open(this.src);"
Height="300"
Style="border: 1px solid black;width:auto;cursor:hand"
ImageUrl="~/SlideShow/images/Blue hills.jpg"
AlternateText="Blue Hills image" />
<asp:Label runat="Server" ID="imageLabel1"/><br /><br />
<asp:Button runat="Server" ID="prevButton" Text="Prev" Font-Size="Larger" />
<asp:Button runat="Server" ID="playButton" Text="Play" Font-Size="Larger" />
<asp:Button runat="Server" ID="nextButton" Text="Next" Font-Size="Larger" />
<ajaxToolkit:SlideShowExtender ID="slideshowextend1" runat="server"
TargetControlID="Image1"
SlideShowServiceMethod="GetSlides"
AutoPlay="true"
ImageDescriptionLabelID="imageLabel1"
NextButtonID="nextButton"
PlayButtonText="Play"
StopButtonText="Stop"
PreviousButtonID="prevButton"
PlayButtonID="playButton"
Loop="true" />

Load Page Into UpdatePanel

Hi,

I have a webpage that has a column of links. Each links leads to another webpage. What I want to happen is instead of going to a different webpage, for each of the links, I want an UpdatePanel to be updated with the contents of the target of the links.

So basically I need an update panel with multiple triggers and the update panel has to know which link was clicked so that it knows which page to load.

How would I go about doing this? Thanks in advance.

Przemek

I'd suggest looking into using an iframe for your content instead. Performance would be better, it would be more simple to code/maintain, and I really can't think of any disadvantages.
